To synthesize and evaluate the antimicrobial activity of 4-prop-2-ynyl-3-butyl-benzo[e][1,2,4]-thiadiazine-1,1-dioxide, the reported antibacterial activity of 3-butyl-4H-benzothiadiazine dioxide prompted investigation into its interaction with propynyl bromide. Alkylation of 3-butyl-1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-1,1-dioxide with propynyl bromide was achieved using anhydrous K₂CO₃ in DMF. The synthesized compound, 4-prop-2-ynyl-3-butyl-benzo[e][1,2,4]-thiadiazine-1,1-dioxide, was characterized unequivocally by spectroscopic data and tested for antibacterial activity against clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The compound exhibited no antibacterial activity against any tested strains compared to commercial antibiotics used in the study.
